Communities Without Borders is supporting the education of 600 AIDS orphans in Zambia. The money is donated from communities of faith in the U.S., two medical clinics and a school) Last summer 22 service volunteers traveled to Lusaka where the communities we support are located. We taught with the local teachers, helped build a health clinic; provided 200 mosquito protected bed-nets and demonstrated how to make and cook on inexpensive solar ovens. These will allow people to save money on charcoal, be safer for children who have asthma and lung problems from indoor cooking. We tested water in four of the communities. We arranged for a teacher workshop for 16 of the community school teachers. This summer, a team of 10 master teachers, excited by the stories that two teachers brought back, are planning a working trip with 23 others.
